Currant Club

Bringing you an alternative take on the classic Clover Club cocktail, using Tanqueray's Blackcurrant Royale Gin.

Whilst a Clover Club cocktail is traditionally a raspberry flavoured cocktail using grenadine, I’ve decided to turn this into a ‘Currant Club’ playing on the flavours of blackcurrant instead. You could use a blackcurrant syrup, however I’ve opted for simple syrup and fresh blackberries muddled as a simpler alternative. Keep reading below for the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 shot (30ml) of @Tanquerayginau Blackcurrant Royale
  • 1 shot (30ml) of simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water dissolved)
  • 1 shot (30ml) of lemon juice
  • 1 egg white
  • 3 fresh blackberries, 2 finely chopped for the cocktail and 2 for garnish
  • 2 cups of ice

Method

  1. Fill your glass with ice to chill down whilst you make your cocktail.
  2. Place Tanqueray Blackcurrant Royale, lemon juice, finely chopped blackberries muddled,
  3. sugar syrup and egg white into a cocktail shaker. Close the lid and dry shake for 5 seconds.
  4. Open the lid, add in your ice, close the lid and shake for another 5 seconds until the cocktail shaker is fully chilled.
  5. Throw out the ice and strain the cocktail into your glass.
  6. Garnish with a blackberry using a cocktail pick and place onto the rim of the glass.
