Sour Yet Passionate (Passionfruit Sour)

Sharing a delicious passionfruit cocktail I had the pleasure of making and drinking when I visited @trawoolestate and checked out their newest restaurant and bar, @trawool_turbine! It’s a lovely balance of vanilla sweetness with zesty passionfruit and the usually frothiness from a sour. It’s on the cocktail menu at @trawool_turbine, so definitely order it if you’re if you’re heading to @trawool_estate but since we’re currently in lockdown, they’ve kindly shared the recipe with me so you can recreate this at home!


  • 45ml vanilla vodka
  • 20ml lime
  • 20ml passionfruit juice
  • 5ml sugar syrup
  • 15ml egg white
  • 2 cups of ice
  • Dash of bitters


  1. Fill a coupe glass with ice and set aside to chill your glass whilst you make your cocktail.
  2. Place the vanilla vodka, lime, passionfruit and egg white into a cocktail shaker. Close the lid and dry shake for 5 seconds.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for another 5 seconds till fully chilled.
  4. Throw out the ice from the glass and then strain the drink into your glass.
  5. Garnish with a dash of bitters swirled with a toothpick.
